The Engi are a robotic species know for their mechanical prowess. They have an incredible repair speed, twice that of a standard crew member. In addition to this they also take reduced damage from a lack of oxygen, which makes them perfect for fixing breaches in the hull. However they are poor in combat, dealing only half damage. The combination of these two things means Engi are best on key systems where they don't want to move much such as piloting and engines. When accompanied by other more combat adept species they can do incredibly. If you happen to board the enemy ship they are a priority as if you manage to kill them the enemy ship will take much longer to repair.
