My name is John Frick. As I near the end of my undergraduate progam at SUNY Canton with six years of experience in programming of many kinds under my belt, I've learned to make my talents and strengths work for the real world. Born and raised in the rural outskirts of a northern New York town, my childhood was spent with not much to do in the outside world. Living isolated from most of the community, my time was instead spent interacting with digital media, be it television, film, video games, or the vast landscape of the internet. In my later adolescent years, my interest in technology and media (with an emphasis on video games), I began to experiment with various online sources to learn the basics of object-oriented programming. Eventually, I would get serious about my aspirations and I entered a two-year web development program in high school that planted the seeds for my experience in web design with HTML and CSS while also teaching me some fundamental programming concepts in a more effective way through the use of PHP.

After graduating from high school and that web development program in 2019, my attention was immediately caught by the major at SUNY Canton for game design and development; an intense program that I would qualify for with ease. Through a sort of trial b y fire, my programming knowledge was solidified through learning more widely-used languages like Python, C#, and C++ and most of this learning was done through interacting with game engines that use these languages or derivatives of them. Six years since my initial experience with HTML, CSS, and PHP have sharpened my skills for web design and programming, and I now consider myself a competent programmer and an even better web developer.
